That is where the difference between image and reality usually shows up.

I would judge the experience on four things:
- classroom quality
- peer group
- faculty access
- life outside academics
That gives a more useful answer than simply asking whether the place is good.

Talking to one current student and one recent alumnus usually clears this up faster than reading ten random comments.
